凯拉尼克尔斯

Kayla serves as Interim Associate Vice Provost for 登记管理 and Director of Undergraduate 招生. She is a two-time 弗吉尼亚理工大学 alumna, earning her bachelor's degree in Psychology and master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Her pathway to 弗吉尼亚理工大学 began as a transfer student, as she transferred to 弗吉尼亚理工大学 from Virginia Western Community College after earning her associate degree.

Kayla identifies as a first-generation college student and began working in the Office of Undergraduate 招生 as a student worker in the mailroom. From there, Kayla earned progressively responsible roles upon graduation. She served as an admissions advisor, 副主任, senior 副主任, 副主任, senior 副主任 of operations, 副主任. She oversaw diversity and 包容 programming as an 副主任 and senior 副主任. Kayla then provided leadership to operations, 游客体验, 和通信, which included implementing Common App and streamlining various internal processes and procedures.  

In her most recent role as deputy director, she oversaw day-to-day operations for the Office of Undergraduate 招生, which included providing leadership to the data processing team, 游客体验 team, 招聘团队, 通信, and customer support staff. Kayla has also worked in various roles with New Student and Family Programs, 夏天开始, Cranwell International Center, and the 学生军团. As a first-generation college graduate, she recognizes the value and importance of her role and aims to support students and families navigating the college admissions process.

Kayla’s professional involvement goes beyond 弗吉尼亚理工大学 as she has presented at local, 区域, and national conferences on topics related to access, 包容, and program coordination. She served for several years as the Week 1A College Fair Coordinator for the Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars and 招生 Officers (VACRAO) and later served as the Vice President of 招生 and Enrollment for VACRAO. Kayla was also selected as a 2021-2022 cohort member of the ASCEND leadership development program by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and 招生 Officers (AACRAO).  

工作之余, you can find Kayla making pottery, 旅行, 听播客, and spending time with her husband and their rescue beagle named Birdie.
